Alternanthera reineckii
The purple colour underneath Alternanthera reineckii 'roseafolia' leaves provides an effective contrast to the many green plants in an aqMouarium particularly when planted in groups. Three to five strong specimens can be used for the midground area to help accent the shades of green aquarium plants.Alternanther reineckii 'roseafolia' need plenty of room as the leaves will tend to deteriorate if too crowded. It is easily propagated by nipping off the terminal bud and planting it in the bottom. More side shoots will formed this way, making the plant look more bushy.

*5 Bacopa sp Japan
Unlike all other known species of Bacopa, which grow in a strictly vertical fashion, this species grows in a mostly prostrate manner. It will gradually gain more height than might be desired, but with selective pruning, can easily be made into a contoured mid ground bush. Its small size and vibrant, lime green color make it especially suited for such a role.

5* Bacopa salzmannii
It is perhaps most similar to the more familiar B. caroliniana, and may be cultivated under the same conditions. Unlike the former plant, it remains a bit smaller and the central vein of each leaf is often distinctly reddish. Under very strong light and with sufficient trace elements, the reddish line may not be as apparent; under low light and with few micronutrients, the entire plant may remain green. The addition of carbon dioxide is certainly helpful, but not required.
